This song called "Abuse" was written and produced by Rohan "Ragga Lox" Robinson, with the assistance of Westchester ARC, an organization in New York that supports individuals with intellectual disabilities, and the former OMRDD of New York. While employed at WARC, where Ragga Lox worked while pursuing his career, he attended a conference advocating for a shift from physical behavior interventions to a more humane, choice-based approach. During the conference, each group brainstormed ideas for change and created a theme song for their group. Following the presentation, Ragga's colleague, aware of his musical talent, suggested that he compose the theme song to represent the new approach to behavioral interventions for this community. Ragga then crafted the song using the input from each group to write the lyrics.
Through an agreement with the NY state OMRDD and Westchester ARC, Ragga Lox successfully secured the funding to produce the song, which was recorded and produced in Jamaica at Gumption Studios.
The song was featured in a video that has since been utilized as an educational resource by various organizations during orientations for both new and recertified staff members working with this particular demographic. In 2020, following the George Floyd incident, the song was chosen to be part of the "Cashapp for Change" playlist campaign in collaboration with Cashapp and United Masters Digital Distribution, aiming to address the prevailing issues in America at that time. Originally released in 2010 as part of the album "Steppa Inna Babylon," the song is now accessible for streaming on all major digital platforms or can be purchased at https://www.raggalox.com/music., where you can also access streaming links.
